As of May 2023, participants in the USA Green Card Lottery can check the status of their application. Applications for the visa lottery were accepted from October to November 2022. The lottery is referred to as DV-2024 because successful applicants will be issued a green card during 2024.

When Will the Results of the Green Card Lottery 2024 be Announced?
The visa lottery year is based on the fiscal year in which the visas are issued. It might seem a bit confusing, but after looking at the table below, you will understand.

USA Green Card Lottery Application Status
Official lottery results are available on the only government-run site, dvlottery.state.gov. To determine the status of your application, you must know the 16-digit Confirmation Number that was generated in the fall after you submitted your registration. For example, the code is 20241O0DZWY3DOV0.
If you have lost the number, click on Check Status, then Continue, then Forgot Confirmation Number on the above page. To regain access, all you need to know is your first name, last name, date of birth and the email address used in your registration.❌ Your Entry Was Not Drawn
If you were not drawn this year, you will see on the page, “Based on the information provided, the Entry HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED for further processing for the Electronic Diversity Visa program at this time.”
Please do not delete your confirmation number and keep checking the status of your application until the end of September 2023. There are known cases where the status has changed for entries that were not originally drawn.
✅ You Have Been Drawn
If you have been lucky enough to win the lottery, you will be presented with a page showing how to proceed.
And now the most important thing: don’t celebrate prematurely. Winning the lottery doesn’t automatically grant you a green card. It merely entitles you to the next process, at the end of which you may receive one. In the end, only about 40% of people who are drawn will obtain a green card.

Outside of this date and the official website, there are no legitimate applications. You might encounter numerous sites on the web posing as official government sites. In reality, they are operated by entrepreneurs who profit from false promises and merely forwarding your registration. They often claim to increase your chances of winning, pose as various Visa Agents, and use legit-looking websites and badges. Google tries to block these sites in searches, yet you may stumble upon them in ads and on social media.
The only official U.S. Visa Lottery site is dvlottery.state.gov.
