Starting in May 2024, participants in the DV-2025 Green Card Lottery can verify the status of their application. Applications for the lottery were accepted from October to November 2023. The lottery is referred to as the DV-2025 lottery because successful participants who make it all the way to the end will be issued a green card during 2025. When the Results of the Green Card Lottery Will Be Announced In 2024
The designation of the visa lottery year is based on the fiscal year in which the visas will be issued. It’s a bit confusing, but after looking at the table below you will understand.

US Green Card Lottery Application Status
The U.S. government never sends lottery results to lottery participants itself. No emails or text messages are sent, no phone calls are made, and even local embassies do not have any information. The results are only available on the official lottery website.
Official lottery results are available on the only government-run website, dvlottery.state.gov. To check the status of your entry, you must know the 16-digit Confirmation Number that was generated in the fall after you submitted your registration. The code is in the form of, for example 20241O0DZWY3DOV0.
If you have lost the number, click on Check Status “Continue” Forgot Confirmation Number on the above page. To regain access, all you need to know is the first name, last name, date of birth and email address used in the application.
❌ Your Entry Was Not Drawn
If you were not selected this year, you will see on the page, “Based on the information provided, the Entry HAS NOT BEEN SELECTED for further processing for the Electronic Diversity Visa program at this time.”
Please do not delete your confirmation number and keep checking the status of your application until the end of September 2021. There are known cases where the status has changed for entries that were not originally drawn.

If you have been lucky in the lottery, you will see a page with the next steps.
And now the most important thing: Don’t rejoice prematurely. Winning the lottery doesn’t automatically award you a green card, it just entitles you to a further process at the end of which you can get one. In the end, only about 40% of people who are drawn will get a green card.

Green Card Lottery Application Form For 2024
The visa lottery will continue this year. Applications will be accepted in autumn 2024.
Please do not submit any applications outside of this deadline and the official website. You may come across dozens of different sites on the web pretending to be official government sites. In reality, they are run by entrepreneurs who profit from false promises and simply forwarding your registration.
They often promise to increase your chances of winning, pose as various Visa Agents, and use legit-looking websites and badges. Google tries to block these sites in searches, yet you may come across them in ads and on social media.
The only official US visa lottery site is dvlottery.state.gov.
