You’ll have Las Vegas in the palm of your hand when you hop into one of the 28 cabins of the 550 ft High Roller Ferris wheel. It was the world’s tallest until October 2021, when it was knocked off the top spot by the 820 ft high wheel of Ain Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. In the article you can find out how long it takes for one spin and how you can visit the High Roller for the cheapest price.

Height, Radius and Fun Facts About the High Roller Ferris Wheel

Plans to build an attraction located in the heart of Las Vegas were revealed back in 2011. The giant Ferris Wheel High Roller has become a landmark in the newly built THE LINQ district. The name “High Roller” comes from the name of the high-stakes casino games.

The entire High Roller Ferris wheel is 550 ft high, the wheel itself is 520 ft in diameter. The attraction has been in operation since March 31, 2014. At the same time, a competing Ferris wheel, Skyvue, was planned for construction in Las Vegas. However, its completion never happened when construction was halted near the Mandalay Bay Hotel in 2012.

At night, lighting for the High Roller is provided by a set of 2,000 LEDs that can glow a single color or form colorful patterns. There are 28 glass-enclosed booths for visitors, each with a capacity of 40 people. At any one time, there can be 1,120 passengers on the Ferris wheel.

One turn takes 30 minutes, during the ride you will have a beautiful 360° view of the whole Las Vegas. Each cabin is equipped with air conditioning and eight screens that play commercials most of the time. There are two benches in each cabin so you can stand or sit during the ride.

  2. What You Need to Know Before You Visit

🗺️ Location of the High Roller Ferris Wheel

The High Roller attraction is located at 3545 Las Vegas Blvd South between the Harrah’s and Flamingo hotels and across from the famous Caesars Hotel. The closest stop to the monorail is “Harrah’s & The LINQ Station”.

    🕒 Opening Hours

The Ferris wheel is open every day from 12:00 noon to midnight, with the last rides always starting at 23:30. And as it happens in Las Vegas, you can have a wedding on the High Roller if you wish.

🎟️ Tickets for the High Roller Ferris Wheel

It’s probably no surprise that tickets to the High Roller aren’t cheap. I recommend buying them in advance, as they are often sold out for many of the following days.

Ticket prices vary depending on the time of day, the more desirable evening rides are more expensive. Tickets are valid for 3 days from your chosen date, giving you a degree of flexibility. I last updated the information on May 7, 2024.

    • Daily ticket from 12:00 to 16:59: $28
    • Night ticket from 17:00 to 23:30: $40

🎫 Free High Roller Entry with Go City Las Vegas Pass

If you want to ride the Ferris wheel and don’t want to pay the expensive one-time admission fee, I recommend purchasing a Go City Pass. It’s basically a season pass to attractions in and around Las Vegas. It’s sold for 2-5 days, during which you can visit any number of the dozens of venues available.

Among the attractions on offer is the High Roller Ferris Wheel, which you can ride at no additional charge between 12:00 and 16:59. If you plan your schedule wisely, you can still take a helicopter tour over the Strip, ride the Big Apple Coaster, or check out the roof of The Strat in 3-4 days. Compared to regular ticket prices, you can save lower hundreds of dollars.

💡 Tips on How to Enjoy a Visit to the High Roller

The most desirable time to ride is at sunset, which most of the year requires the purchase of a more expensive ticket option. If you want to save money and skip the twilight, I recommend using the aforementioned Go Pass. By arriving shortly after opening, you’ll avoid waiting in a growing line.

Your first visit to the Ferris High Roller is always an experience. The wheel feels very slow and steady, so you most likely won’t feel dizzy, even if you usually suffer from a fear of heights.

Before getting into the cab, you’ll have a photo shoot in front of a green backdrop, with photos available for purchase afterwards. For me, this is inauthentic, so I recommend not buying photos.
