Petr Novák

Las Vegas is at your fingertips when you step into one of the 28 cabins of the High Roller Ferris wheel, standing 550.0 ft tall. Until October 2021, it held the title of the world’s tallest observation wheel before being surpassed by the 820.0 ft Ain Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. In this article, you’ll learn how long one full rotation takes and how to visit the High Roller at the lowest price.

Height, Diameter, and Fun Facts About the High Roller Ferris Wheel

Plans for this attraction, located in the heart of Las Vegas, were unveiled back in 2011. The massive High Roller observation wheel has since become a landmark in the newly developed THE LINQ district. The name “High Roller” is derived from a term used for high-stakes games in casinos.

The entire High Roller Ferris wheel stands 550.0 ft tall, with the wheel itself having a diameter of 520.0 ft. The attraction has been in operation since March 31, 2014. Around the same time, another competing observation wheel, Skyvue, was planned in Las Vegas. However, construction near the Mandalay Bay hotel was halted in 2012 and never completed.

The High Roller’s lighting system consists of 2,000 LED lights, which can display solid colors or dynamic patterns. There are 28 glass-enclosed cabins, each accommodating up to 40 people. At full capacity, the wheel can hold up to 1,120 passengers at a time.

A single rotation lasts 30 minutes, providing breathtaking 360° views of the entire Las Vegas area. Each cabin is equipped with air conditioning and eight screens, primarily displaying advertisements. Inside, there are two benches, allowing passengers to either stand or sit during the ride.

  2. What You Need to Know Before Visiting

🗺️ Location of the High Roller Ferris Wheel

The High Roller is located at 3545 Las Vegas Blvd South, between Harrah’s and Flamingo hotels, directly across from the iconic Caesars Palace. The nearest monorail stop is “Harrah’s & The LINQ Station.”

    🕒 Operating Hours

The Ferris wheel operates daily from 12:30 PM to 11:30 PM. From Friday to Sunday, it remains open until 1:30 AM, with the last ride starting 30 minutes before closing. Operating hours may vary throughout the year. And, as is common in Las Vegas, you can even get married on the High Roller.

    🎟️ High Roller Ticket Prices

It’s no surprise that tickets for the High Roller aren’t cheap. I highly recommend purchasing them in advance online, as they often sell out days ahead.

Ticket prices vary based on the time of day, with evening rides being more expensive. Tickets are valid for three days from the selected date, providing some flexibility. This information was last updated on May 7, 2024.

    • Daytime Ticket (12:00 PM – 4:59 PM): $30
    • Nighttime Ticket (5:00 PM – 11:30 PM): $40

🎫 Free Entry With Go City Las Vegas Pass

If you want to ride the Ferris wheel without paying for an expensive single-use ticket, consider purchasing a Go City Pass. This pass functions as an all-access ticket to attractions in and around Las Vegas. It is available for 2–5 days, allowing you to visit as many attractions as you like from a list of several dozen.

The High Roller is included in the pass, allowing you to ride it for free between 12:00 PM and 4:59 PM. If you plan wisely, you can also fit in a helicopter tour over the Strip, a ride on the Big Apple Coaster, or a visit to the observation deck of The Strat. Compared to standard ticket prices, you can save several hundred dollars.

💡 Tips for Enjoying Your High Roller Experience

Sunset is the most popular time for a ride, making tickets more expensive during this period. At night, the High Roller offers stunning views of Las Vegas, including the Sphere.

If you want to save money and don’t mind skipping sunset, I recommend using the Go City Pass. Arriving right after opening helps you avoid long lines.

Your first ride on the High Roller is always an unforgettable experience. The wheel rotates very slowly and smoothly, so even those with a fear of heights are unlikely to feel dizzy.

Before boarding, you’ll have a photo taken in front of a green screen, which you can purchase for $38 (verified in March 2025). In my opinion, the photos feel inauthentic, so I don’t recommend buying them.
