Do you feel queasy just at the sight of the slowest roller coaster at Six Flags amusement park? Then you might want to stop reading. The attractions at the top of the tallest building in Las Vegas, 922 ft above the ground, are only for the brave. As is often the case with such attractions, the worst part is the fear. The ride itself is pure adrenaline and fun. Everything is 100% safe, and I’ve personally seen young children enjoy the attractions. They were thrilled!

Big Shot – Free Fall in a Seat
Big Shot simulates a free fall, during which visitors can enjoy views of the Strip and the entire Las Vegas Valley.
The experience accommodates 16 people at once, who are seated in chairs and securely fastened with seat belts. These are important because, during the brief free fall lasting just a few seconds, they experience a maximum force of 4G. During the drop from 921 ft to 1,081 ft, the red seats reach speeds of up to 45 mph. There are four seats on each side of the structure, so each person has a view in a different direction.
Personally, I found Big Shot to be the mildest of all the attractions simply because, throughout the ride, the solid ground beneath your feet is visible. I also had prior experience with a similar ride at Tivoli Park in Copenhagen, Denmark. If you want to overcome your fear at The Strat but don’t have much confidence, I recommend starting with Big Shot.

X-Scream – Swinging Over the Edge of the Skyscraper
This attraction is somewhat like a traditional playground swing, where one person pushes off the ground while another person hangs in mid-air. In the case of X-Scream, the setup is more sophisticated. Eight people are seated in a car that moves along a narrow track back and forth, up and down.
The next movement of the car is unpredictable, and it all takes place at a height of 866 ft and 27 ft beyond the edge of the skyscraper. If you want to fully enjoy X-Scream, I recommend sitting in the front row, where you’ll have the best view of the city below.

SkyJump – Jump from the Roof at 829 ft
The most adrenaline-pumping attraction at The Strat is SkyJump, which has been in operation since March 2010. The brave participant is dressed in a special suit and securely fastened to safety ropes. Then, they simply jump from 829 ft, with the safety ropes preventing a hard landing on the prepared mat below.
The adrenaline level in SkyJump is significantly higher than with other attractions, with a maximum free-fall speed of up to 45 mph. SkyJump is listed in the Guinness World Records as the highest commercial decelerator descent.
SkyJump is the only attraction for which a separate ticket is required. For an additional fee, you can purchase photos and videos of the experience.

Insanity – Attraction Closed
Lastly, a special mention for the most adrenaline-filled attraction of all. Insanity earned its name honestly. Five pairs of riders sit in seats attached to a giant arm, which extends over the edge of the skyscraper and spins around. There’s no floor beneath the riders’ feet, and to make it even more thrilling, they spin while facing downward. The distance to the sidewalk below them is 886 ft.
Of all the attractions at The Strat, I personally liked Insanity the most. Unfortunately, it has been closed since March 2023 due to its height and frequent issues with strong winds.

Fun Facts About The Strat in Las Vegas
The Strat has a total of 2,427 rooms spread across 24 floors. Construction of the hotel began in February 1992 and continued until April 30, 1996, when the Stratosphere was opened.
The construction was not without problems, the biggest one occurred around midnight on August 29, 1993, when a fire broke out in the tower. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but it significantly slowed the completion of the project.
My Review of The Strat Las Vegas
I enjoy adrenaline attractions, so I couldn’t miss The Strat. I didn’t try the SkyJump, but I did experience the other three attractions. Big Shot and X-Scream were accompanied by the Insanity centrifuge, which I liked the most.
The Strat is worth visiting for the unique view of the city, even if you’re not a fan of adrenaline.
