Car Rental Price in Denver

The price for car rental in Denver comprises several components. In addition to the duration of the rental and the selected company, the following factors also affect the price:

⏳ Current Demand for Cars

The demand for cars varies throughout the year. It can be higher during summer vacations or around public holidays, potentially leading to increased rental prices.

🗓️ Booking Dates

The period before you book your car also impacts the price. Based on my research, I recommend booking your car 2-3 months in advance.

🗺️ Airport, or Downtown?

Some price discrepancies may exist between rental prices at the airport and rental agencies in the city center. In my experience, airport rentals tend to be cheaper.

🏎️ Category of Rental Car

Economy class cars are the cheapest, generally providing limited space and only essential equipment. More comfortable mid-range cars are about 5-10% more expensive, while large SUVs are about 25% more costly. You’ll pay 60-70% more to rent a stylish convertible compared to economy cars.

🔞 Driver’s Age

Drivers between the ages of 21 and 24, inclusive, may incur a surcharge of up to $25 per day. This is associated with a higher risk of accidents. Drivers under 21 years of age may not be allowed to rent a car at all or may face even higher fees.

☂️ Insurance Included

By law, all rental cars must have compulsory insurance. Insurance against car loss, damage, and breakdown is optional, but I recommend taking it. The potential refunds are substantial.

🛰️ Extra Accessories

You may also rent additional accessories such as GPS navigation, satellite radio, or a child seat with your rental car.

When booking cars, consider comparing prices; the first Denver car rental company you find may not be the most affordable. I recommend booking cars through, which compares prices from over 200 rental companies, guaranteeing customers the lowest price.

Denver Area Road Trip Tips

Just a short distance away, a comfortable 74 mi from downtown Denver by USA standards, lies Rocky Mountain National Park. The Rocky Mountains offer a great spot to clear your mind—just venture out on one of the 360 mi of hiking trails.

To the southwest of Denver, you’ll find a good dozen national parks, including the popular Grand Canyon, Arches, or Bryce Canyon. To the northwest, there’s the perhaps most well-known national park, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton. I recommend that you plan visits to both of these locations as multi-day trips.

During the winter, it would be a missed opportunity not to visit the renowned Aspen ski resort. It’s 158 mi from Denver and can be reached in about three hours without excessive difficulty.
